This women’s French Work Jacket by Atelier Marinière reinterprets the traditional bleu de travail through the depth of garment-dyed recycled cotton gabardine.

Crafted in Italy from 100% recycled cotton gabardine, the fabric offers structure with ease. The dense weave gives the jacket clarity and balance, holding its silhouette while remaining comfortable to wear.

Cut with a clean, balanced line, it features three patch pockets, an inner pocket, and metal buttons inspired by original chore jackets — refined rather than reproduced.

The Vetiver Green tone is dyed in Italy, giving the surface richness and subtle variation. With time, the fabric softens naturally, gaining character while maintaining its composure.

A contemporary work jacket that respects its origins while refining its proportions for a modern, confident presence — made with considered materials and lasting intent.

100% Recycled Cotton

We have selected a 100% recycled cotton gabardine weighing 650 grams — a fabric chosen for its substance and depth rather than economy.

Sourced from a long-established supplier in the province of Treviso, active in the textile industry for over fifty years, it reflects consistent quality built through experience rather than trend.

The dense gabardine weave gives the jacket structure and definition, holding its silhouette while remaining comfortable to wear. Its weight adds presence and durability, while the recycled cotton offers a balanced, refined hand feel.

Selected for its character and longevity, it represents a considered approach to material — one that values quality and responsible sourcing without compromise.

Fit

This Jacket is designed for a regular fit.

Available from S to L. We recommend ordering your normal size. If you are unsure or need some advice, send us a message and we will be happy to help.

Yarn & Care

We craft our French Work Jacket in Italy using 100% recycled cotton gabardine, selected for its density and structure rather than mass-produced fabric. Every jacket is cut and sewn by skilled artisans, preserving the authenticity of classic workwear while refining it through contemporary proportions.

The jacket can be machine washed at 30°C and hung to dry. As with all garment-dyed pieces, wear is part of the process. Over time, the fabric softens, adapting naturally to the movements of its owner. Subtle variations in tone, gentle creases and lived-in nuances will gradually appear, shaped by daily use and the body itself.

These variations are not imperfections, but the defining characteristic of raw denim — a material designed to evolve and become uniquely personal with time.

A Certain Way to Wear It

There’s a certain way to wear it.
Not rigid. Not nostalgic.
Slightly undone, but deliberate.
Edition 07 moves easily between the Mediterranean and Paris — less holiday, more attitude.
A French Work Jacket resting on the shoulders.
Breton stripes underneath, breaking the silhouette with a familiar rhythm.
Morning to evening.
Market to gallery.
Cuffs folded back without ceremony.
A table in a quiet bistrot.
Sometimes, a Vespa leaving the city before sunset — the jacket catching the wind, the Breton effortless in motion.
Effortless, but intentional.
Relaxed, but precise.
Parisian in spirit.

The French Work Jacket, Reworked

Every three months, we release a new version of our French Work Jacket.
The form remains. The refinements evolve.
Known as the bleu de travail, it retains its three outer patch pockets and inner pocket.
The proportions are preserved, subtly adjusted for a more comfortable, contemporary fit.
Metal buttons replace the traditional plastic ones — a deliberate upgrade for durability and a sharper finish.
What changes with each edition is the material.
Raw denim, gabardine, treated twill, or wool — each fabric shifts the character of the jacket while respecting its structure.
Familiar in origin. Redesigned in attitude.

650g Recycled Cotton Gabardine

Chosen for weight, density and presence — not lightness.
Sourced in Italy, from a mill with over fifty years of experience.
The dense weave gives structure and clarity.
It holds its shape. It stays comfortable.
Each piece is garment-dyed in Vicenza.
Subtle variations emerge along seams and edges. No two are exactly the same.
Garment dyeing softens the fabric, removing tension.
When a garment is meant to last, the fabric must carry substance as well as character.

Each piece is numbered.
One of 99.

Cut and Sewn in Italy

Our French Work Jackets are cut and sewn in Italy, just outside Venice, in a small atelier known for its precision and discretion.
We chose it for its standards — not for heritage, but for execution.
Each piece is carefully constructed, then refined.
Metal buttons are attached by hand.
Every jacket passes through strict quality control before leaving the atelier.
Interlocked and reinforced seams — drawn from vintage workwear — are retained for their clean internal structure and quiet strength.
What matters is the balance you feel when wearing it — considered, composed, precise.
