The Striped Breton Shirt, also known as the Striped Sailor Shirt or Marinière in French, is a timeless icon of casual elegance and a symbol of the French art de vivre. Atelier Marinière brings a modern twist to this classic with a reinterpretation that offers a slightly oversized fit for a contemporary look.

Crafted from premium merino wool sourced from the renowned Tollegno1900 mills, this versatile Breton Shirt is made from a naturally thermo-regulating fiber, ensuring warmth without overheating, making it perfect for all seasons. The color combinations, beyond the classic white with blue stripes, are fashion-forward and unique, adding a distinct touch to this iconic piece.

Limited to just 99 pieces, each numbered in the order they are sold, this exclusive shirt is Made in Italy and hand-knit by our skilled artisans, guaranteeing exceptional quality and craftsmanship.

Made in Italy

Our Breton Shirts are crafted just a few kilometers from Venice, in a region known for its rich artisanal heritage and its role in producing garments for the world’s top high-fashion brands.

Each piece is meticulously made from fine merino wool, prized for its natural softness and thermo-regulating properties, ensuring comfort in any season.

We collaborate with a small, family-run workshop, fostering a partnership built on trust, craftsmanship, and a passion for quality—values that define every garment we create.

Merino Wool from Italy

We have chosen one of the best manufacturers in the world of merino wool: Tollegno 1900. It is a historic Italian company specializing in the production of the highest quality wools. Located in the town of Tollegno, in the province of Biella, at the foot of the Piedmont Alps, Tollegno 1900 operates ethically and holds the most important eco-certifications in the textile industry, making it a green and sustainable company.

Handmade Embroidery

Our Marinières are hand embroidered with needle and thread, making each one unique.

Each pieces is also hand numbered, from 1 to 99.

Fit

The oversized fit, the dropped sleeves and wide boat neck are hallmarks of our design. Taken together, they represent a unique, modern and fashionable update of this classic look, making them perfect for every outfit.

Fabric & Care

We craft our Breton Shirts in Italy using a manual loom, ensuring each piece is meticulously knitted rather than cut from pre-printed fabric. Every sweater is made by skilled artisans, using over 2.5 kilometers of raw yarn, preserving the authenticity of traditional craftsmanship.

To keep your Breton Shirt looking its best, hand wash or machine wash at 30°C, then hang to dry. If needed, iron inside out or use steam to remove creases.

Shipping is free worldwide.

Once your Marinière is dispatched, you'll receive an email with tracking details. We ship all over the world. And if you’re based in the EU, we will be sending your items directly from Italy so that you won’t incur additional customs fees.

If for any reason you wanted to return your Marinière, we accept returns within 14 days of delivery as long as the Marinièere is in perfect condition.
